The cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi could be facing urban flooding, as monsoon rains are likely to begin in the country from Monday, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.
Heavy rain has inundated farms damaging ready-to-harvest vegetable crops in the state. Amid rising demand and restricted supply, the prices of vegetables are rising by the day.
Speaking to ANI, Naresh Kumar, Senior Scientist, IMD said, "So as of today, the monsoon has covered the entire country against its normal date of July 8. Monsoon has been particularly active over the northeastern states".
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were deployed in Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Navsari, which were some of the worst-affected districts, officials said.
According to the officials, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is working to open the highway. They said that due to the blockage of the highway, many passengers are stranded.
"The exercises to remove the trucks have been going on since yesterday. A 100-meter road has been constructed across the Son River. However, there is some problem due to the increased water level, " said Anamika Kumar, circle officer, Dehri.
The Uttarkashi administration, on Saturday, informed that the Yamunotri National Highway would remain closed for 1-week, from July 4 to 10, following ongoing repair work due to the damage caused near the Orchha band.
After an autorickshaw driver fell into an undercovered pothole at a flooded Harsh Vihar in the national capital, following heavy monsoon showers, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Saturday issued a statement saying it had taken due cognisance of the incident.

IMD Mumbai has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs with the possibility of very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar during the next 3-4 hours.
