The India Meteorological Department (IMD) centre in Shimla has again issued a rain warning for Himachal Pradesh, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected to continue in several districts of the state over the next few days.
The devastating monsoon season continues to take a heavy toll on Himachal Pradesh, with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) confirming that a total of 110 people have lost their lives across the state between June 20 and July 17, 2025.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi also ordered that schools and Anganwadis in areas affected by heavy rain in Udupi district will remain closed.
"So far, 109 people have lost their lives, out of which 64 deaths were caused directly due to rain-induced disasters like flash floods and landslides. The remaining fatalities occurred mainly due to road accidents during the same monsoon period," Negi told ANI.
The road collapse occurred near Jyoti Talkies crossing, one of Bhopal's busiest roads. According to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) LK Khare, the road caved in due to the soil from the drain and footpath sliding because of the rain. A drain runs underneath the road.
