The railways' "One Station One Product" scheme, launched with an objective to promote the 'Vocal for Local' vision, is now operational at 1,037 stations across the country.
The official release mentioned that the temporary ban has been imposed because of the huge crowd at Ludhiana Railway Station due to upcoming festivals.
In order to control the extra rush of passengers and better crowd management on the occasion of Diwali and Chhat, the sale of platform tickets at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations has been discontinued temporarily.
A huge crowd was also seen at railway stations in the national capital Delhi as people residing in the National Captial Region headed for their hometowns mostly in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The Rangiya and Mariani Railway Stations of Northeast Frontier Railway at Assam have been awarded 'Eat Right Station' certification by FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) in recognition of providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.
