Three empty coaches of a suburban Electricity Multiple Unit (EMU) train derailed near Avadi railway station in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on Tuesday morning, hampering the movement of nearly a dozen trains.
The death toll from the collision between a passenger train and a rear-ended goods train in Bhairab upazila at Kishoreganj in Bangladesh rose to 17, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Bhairab Station Master Yusuf said, "The incident took place around 3:30 pm. The death toll is expected to rise further. Rail connectivity from Dhaka to Chittagong, Sylhet and Kishoreganj is suspended."
