In a major crackdown on gangsters, working in tandem with terrorist groups and drug smugglers based in foreign countries including Pakistan and Canada, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 76 locations across 8 states on Tuesday, an official statement said.
"There is a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and black money. Due to that, some people are disconcerted. By expressing it like that, CM wants to divert attention," the Union minister said.
On the basis of call records, the NIA teams conducted searches in rural and urban areas of Jodhpur as Bishnoi's network has been active in these areas, sources said.
Venugopal said, "We are not afraid of anyone. We follow Indian law. PM Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party should not be under the pretext that Congress will get scared by ED and CBI. We will fight according to the law of India".
CBI is conducting searches in over 30 locations in at premises of FCI officials, private rice millers and grain merchants regarding the payment of a huge bribe to FCI officials.
ED raids were being conducted in Jharkhand, Bihar, Delhi and Haryana. The central agency raided to premises of Virendra Ram, Chief Engineer in the Rural Development Ministry, Jharkhand government in Ranchi.
Searches are going on in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Tamilanadu, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
According to sources, Kulwinder has been a longtime associate of Bishnoi. Cases of providing shelter to the people of Bishnoi gang were also against him.

Following the raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in Chhattisgarh, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Monday said Congress leaders were standing by the corrupt and the strings of corruption are connected with the Congress headquarters.
