Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and commitment to Mizoram as he inaugurated the Bairabi-Sairang rail line, worth over Rs 8,070 crore.
"Before 2014, the budget for railway for northeast was only 2000 crore, Modi ji increased in five times to 10,000 crore. That is the act east policy of Modi ji. Today railway projects of 77,000 crore are undergoing now," Ashwini Vaishnaw told during the inauguration program.
Calling the project a "crucial initiative" to link the state with the rest of India, Vaishnaw said engineers had to tackle loose sand and difficult Himalayan geology.
