Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) protest planned against the alleged death of a student at Jadavpur University was interrupted and blocked by the police on Friday.
This has been done in the wake of widespread condemnation for failing to curb the ragging menace on the campus that allegedly led to the death of the student.
"BJP has no right to go Jadavpur University in this case ethically... if we see figures of ragging nationally by the UGC, most of the ragging cases are from UP and MP in medical colleges," Kunal Ghosh said.
Earlier, a group of students and locals of Bagula village at Nadia held a protest in the morning over the death of a student. Protesters alleged ragging and demanded action in connection to the incident.

The Calcutta High Court on Monday has granted permission to file a Public Interest Litigation regarding ragging in educational institutions following the death of a first-year student at Jadavpur University due to alleged ragging.
"CCTVs can only help in detecting who is the culprit. But CCTVs cannot help in stopping ragging," Subhodeep Bandyopadhyay, General Secretary of Kolkata SFI said.
