"Yahya Sinwar is dead. He was killed in Rafah by the brave soldiers of the Israeli defence forces. While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it's the beginning of the end," Netanyahu said.
The statement of world leaders came after the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that the bodies of six hostages abducted alive by Hamas on October 7 were recovered from a tunnel in southern Gaza's Rafah overnight, shortly after they were murdered by Hamas.
Israeli soldiers continued pressing Hamas in southern Gaza, eliminating 20 terrorists in Rafah over the last day, the Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday morning.
The Israeli army continued operations in the southern Gaza cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah during the past day, the Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday morning.
The IDF also said the fighters of the brigade combat teams under the command of it 162nd "Steel Formation" Division continue to operate in the Rafah area of Gaza.
The fourth UAE aid ship bound for Gaza arrived on Thursday at the port of Arish in the Egyptian governorate of North Sinai, in preparation for the entry of its cargo into the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities.
The UAE convoys of relief aid contained medical equipment, food parcels, Emirati dates, shelter tents, food supplies, clothes, water, baby formula, parcels for children and women, blankets, relief bags, ambulances, and water tanks and sewage systems.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said, "The Prime Minister's steadfast position against the attempt to halt IDF (Israel Defence Forces) action in Rafah is what has led Hamas to enter negotiations."
