US Senators Tim Kaine and Pete Ricketts have urged the Trump administration to prioritise the meeting between QUAD leaders ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April later this year.
Jaishankar was in conversation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the topic "Navigating Uncertainty: India and Germany in a World in Disarray." It was moderated by Roula Khalaf of the Financial Times.
Quad is a valuable forum for discussion of shared interests across a number of areas and any Leaders' Summit is scheduled through diplomatic consultations among the four partners, the government said on Thursday.
"The Quad is an important forum and an important vehicle for us to engage Australia, the United States, Japan and India. I'm hopeful that there will be a meeting in the first quarter, I would hope, of next year. Prime Minister Modi is due to host the Quad meeting," Albanese told reporters
Ahead of the Quad Summit in New Delhi later this year, ahead of which the leaders will activate new Quad initiatives on shared airlift capacity to support civilian response to natural disasters and maritime patrols to improve interoperability.
"We have moved to a position where India economically, strategically, in terms of education, and in terms of its diaspora has come to the centre stage of the world," Awasthi said.
"Canberra, Tokyo, Washington, and New Delhi have strengthened their diplomatic bonds and undertaken joint endeavours and initiatives in one of the most important regions on the planet," the USISPF stated.
After the state visit of 2023, Prime Minister Modi's visit to the United States in 2024 for the Quad Leaders' Summit and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has been pivotal in strengthening the strategy partnership.
