Eight miscreants have been booked by the Baramulla Police under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, the police said on Monday.
"54 drug smugglers have been booked under the PIT- NDPS Act and PSA in the Baramulla district. These hard-core drug peddlers were operating in Uri, Pattan, Baramulla, Kreeri and Tangmarg sub-divisions," said Jammu and Kashmir police.
The Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978, is an administrative detention law that allows the detention of any individual for up to two years without a trial or charge.
The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Karim Butt, who happens to be the brother of a hardcore HM A++ category terrorist named Jahangir Saroori.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked two persons in Bandipore district under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for alleged anti-national and anti-social activities, said officials on Thursday.
Following formal detention orders from the competent authority, the four accused persons have been booked under the PSA (Public Safety Act), the police official said.
"They were also involved in facilitating the movement of terrorists, providing them with transport facilities, and engaging in anti-national activities that pose a threat to the region's security," police said.
The Baramulla Police, on Tuesday, booked three men under the Public Safety Act for being allegedly involved in anti-national activities, said the statement by the Jammu and Kashmir police.
