On Sunday, Senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced "We have decided to participate in the by-elections and Imran Khan will contest from all seats."
Fawad is facing sedition charges for publicly "threatening" the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a media talk -- was arrested from his Lahore residence on Wednesday after a case was registered against him at the Kohsar Police Station, reported Geo News.
Khan while condemning Fawad Chaudhry's arrest, said the legal fraternity and judiciary should play their role in the current situation and that those who did not present him before the court must be held accountable.
Criticising the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhary, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday called on the judges of the apex court to protect the fundamental rights of his party.
The ECP shared a press release on Twitter saying, "#ECP has unanimously decided to appoint Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as Care-Taker Chief Minister Punjab." PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry rejected the decision taken by ECP and said that the commission "never failed to disappoint."
The Election Commission of Pakistan rejected the pleas of PTI leaders seeking an exemption from appearing before the commission and issued arrest warrants for them against surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each.
PTI has decided to take up the issue at the apex court where an application will be moved next week as the resignations of PTI lawmakers of the National Assembly have not been accepted by the speaker.
