Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (PKMSC) district president Aranjeet Singh said that they will gather in Phagwada over the issues concerning the farmers of the state.
Earlier on Friday, in response to the BJP's protest against water pollution in the Yamuna River, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendra Jain stated that the industrial waste polluting the river does not come from Delhi, as there are "no water-polluting industries" in the national capital.
The farmers in Punjab on Saturday sat down at Phagwara Main Chowk in a one-day protest against the government to press their various demands including timely paddy procurement.
"I can't understand why the farmers aren't getting money when the central government has already released Rs 44,000 crore. Money should be given to farmers and paddy must be purchased," he said.
Meanwhile, as per reports, the farmers will resort to a road blockade at a few places in Punjab for an indefinite period from October 26 to protest against the "tardy" paddy procurement and other issues.
