The Ministry of Coal said that more than 100 representatives from the industry participated in the pre-bidding meeting for the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions.
According to the official figures released by the ministry on July 3, coal production surged by 35 per cent year-on-year, rising from 29.26 million tonnes (MT) in the first quarter of financial year (FY) 2024 to 39.53 MT in the first quarter of Q1 FY25.
The government is working on a policy for the steel sector where the washery route will be applied as the end-route for coking coal thereby reducing the import dependence, M Nagaraju, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal said in New Delhi today.
In a bid to increase the coal production in India, the Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy will launch the 10th round of the commercial coal block auction on Friday.
