President Droupadi Murmu will visit Vatican City for a two-day visit from April 25 - 26 to attend the State Funeral of Pope Francis and offer condolences on behalf of the Government and people of India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar called upon President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital on Thursday to brief her about the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, ahead of a scheduled all-party meeting.
President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday paid "heartfelt" condolences to the families who have lost their dear ones in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured ones.
The incident occurred in the congested Mustafabad locality during the early hours of Saturday when a multi-storey building collapsed, trapping several people beneath the rubble.
President Droupadi Murmu, commemorating Dr BR Ambedkar's 135th birth anniversary, paid floral tributes to his statue at Prerna Sthal in Parliament premises on Monday.
"Heartiest greetings on Baisakhi, the folk festival to welcome the new year and new crop. I pray to God for prosperity and happiness for all my farmer brothers and sisters and every citizen of the country," the Congress leader wrote in a post on X.
President Droupadi Murmu returned to New Delhi after completing a four-day state visit to Portugal and Slovakia, where she held high-level meetings aimed at strengthening India's bilateral ties with both nations.
