Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, who led a delegation of Opposition leaders to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday, said they briefed President Droupadi Murmu on 'atrocities' on women and the state of relief camps in violence-hit Manipur.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that the Opposition delegation, who visited violence-hit Manipur, and other floor leaders will apprise President Droupadi Murmu, who herself belongs to a tribal community, about the situation of strife-torn state.
The floor leaders of the Opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) along with the 21 MPs' delegation that visited violence-hit Manipur will meet President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday, informed Congress sources.
President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday urged legal professionals to work towards expeditious trial and quick justice. She said that it can set free those innocents who are languishing in jail on trivial charges.
"Congratulations to Rashtrapati Ji on her first year in office! Her tireless dedication to public service and relentless pursuit of progress are extremely motivating. Her various accomplishments reflect the tangible impact of her leadership," PM Modi said in a tweet.
President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said India looks forward to continuing and strengthening its developmental partnership with Sri Lanka under leadership of Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Prevented by police from visiting the Telangana housing project site for inspection, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday sought attention and immediate action from President Droupadi Murmu and Lok Sabha Speaker on the matter.
