Hundreds of christians held mass prayers to mark the Easter Sunday celebrations in Nepal. They also marched on the street rallying through various locations of Kathmandu in order to mark the occasion.
"This was the first time a Prime Minister has ever visited this Church so it was a happy moment. He lit a candle and offered prayers. We also gave him a gift. He planted a sapling also", Archbishop, Rev Anil J Couto said.
Fr. Francis Swaminathan of Sacred Heart Cathedral Church said, "All preparations have been made to welcome the Prime Minister. We are very excited about his visit on the occasion of Easter."
Supporters of Congress leader Akhanda Shrinivas Murthy have sought divine intervention to get the party ticket for him to contest the Karnataka assembly polls from the Pulikeshinagar constituency.
The devotees also flocked to attend the 'early morning' aarti at the temple. Devotees were seen standing in the long queue and waiting for their chance patiently to offer prayers.
