Family members gathered at the residence of the mother and daughter who died during the Mahakumbh stampede that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Prayagaraj.
In the wake the stampede at Mahakumbh, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former MP ST Hasan expressed deep concern and criticised the authorities for their negligence in managing the event.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya' over 57.1 million devotees took a holy dip in the Triveni waters on Wednesday, according to an official statement from the Uttar Pradesh Information Department.
Uttar Pradesh government has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered a judicial inquiry and said that a judicial committee will submit its report to the state government within a time limit.
Jagadguru Shankaracharaya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj on Wednesday said that the Shankaracharayas of the country would be taking a holy dip at the Mahakumbh.
"We are also announcing financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the families of the deceased on behalf of the state government. The judicial commission will look into the entire matter and submit its report to the state government within a time limit," CM Yogi added.
