Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh on Wednesday said that his government destroyed 45 acres of illegal poppy cultivation at Mapithel hill range in Kamjong district.

Poppy has been eradicated from around 40,000 acres of land in the Badakhshan province in the last three months, Khaama Press reported citing Shafiqullah Hafizi, the director of the counter-narcotics police department in the province.

At least four farmers have died, and five others have been injured in a dispute over the poppy field destruction in the northeastern Darayim district of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported.
