Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said the Opposition's performance in the Vice Presidential election was "respectable," noting that its joint candidate Justice B Sudershan Reddy (retd) secured 40 per cent of the vote.
With NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan winning the Vice-Presidential polls by over 150 votes, BJP MPs took dig at Congress and opposition parties, claiming that 14 MPs from INDIA block indulged "in cross voting" and 14 other whose votes were cancelled are also from the opposition.

"Why talk about this (cross-voting)? This is such a big election. The question is not just about a party, the post should be occupied by an individual who upholds national interest," Sule, who is set to vote in the VP election, told ANI here.
"Numbers are fine but this voting is done on the basis of one's conscience. The entire country knows that the BJP is a use-and-throw party. The same thing happened with the Vice President, who is missing...The numbers will be in our favour," the SP chief told ANI.
