Congress on Sunday staged a march to Ernakulam North Police Station in protest against the alleged torture of a youth by police in Kerala the previous day.
Days after the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairman, Priyank Kanoongo, claimed to have been assaulted at Tiljila police station, the Kolkata police on Sunday said a case was registered against the accused West Bengal Police officer.
The bus was travelling between on Barsur-Palli Marg when about 20-25 Naxalites set it on fire. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Malewahi police station. Dantewada Police confirmed that all passengers are safe.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman Priyank Kanoongo on Friday alleged that the West Bengal police had beaten him up at the Tiljila police station when he protested against them for recording proceedings of the commission's probe.
