The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Delhi government over a plea that sought the construction of a trauma centre in memory of the victims Uphaar fire tragedy that took the lives of 59 people.
A bench led by Justice Surya Kant also stated that the instant bail plea filed by Chatterjee be tagged along with other such pleas to be heard together on July 17, this year.
Plea moved by Practising lawyer Amit Sahni, stated that as per sanctioned strength, the Delhi High Court should have 60 judges (45 permanent and 15 additional). However, it is currently functioning with only 36 judges, reflecting a vacancy rate of 40%.
"Taking utmost caution, the Amritsar district administration has again started the blackout process. Please stay at home, do not panic and do not gather outside your houses; keep the outside lights switched off," the Amritsar DPRO said in a statement.
