The Kerala government has decided to form a special investigation team led by a senior police officer to investigate the allegations of sexual abuses in the Malayalam film industry.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that the Hema committee report on the Malayalam film industry had not been withheld deliberately and Justice Hema had requested that the parts of the report should not be released publicly as it contained sensitive personal information.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan acknowledged the impact of the recent landslides that hit Wayanad and criticised the lack of a precise disaster warning system in the country while addressing the state on the occasion of 78th Independence Day celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram.
The cabinet sub-committee said that financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each has been made available to 379 families directly affected by the Mundakai-Churalmala disaster.
Furthermore, he has been recognised and commended by the Additional Director General of Police, MR Ajith Kumar, IPS, and Inspector General MR Sethu Raman for his exceptional contributions during this challenging period.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted the central government's support for Kerala and said that it will be ensured that no work gets hampered due to a lack of money.
The Prime Minister conducted aerial as well as on-the-ground surveys taking stock of the situation while the rescue operations were still underway. He said that the central government is standing alongside the state government for all assistance and relief work.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested financial support for the rehabilitation of those who lost everything in the Wayanad landslide, as well as assistance to address the challenges posed by climate change.
