Union Minister of State for Electronics Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday hit back at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's jibe for his "appeasement politics" remarks over blasts a day ago in Kochi and said that to "accuse him of being communal is to be a liar".
After a series of blasts at a prayer meeting in Kerala's Kalamassery jolted the state, Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary M V Govindan has said that the incident has to be investigated if it has a connection with the Palestine issue.
"A special team led by ADGP Law and Order will be investigating this incident...20 members will be in the investigating team," Vijayan said at a press conference.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday slammed BJP leader and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar for his "appeasement politics" remarks over the blasts at the convention centre of a Christian group in Kochi, which claimed at least two lives and left several injured.
Addressing the media later on Sunday evening, the minister said that as many as six out of eight people admitted to the hospital are in 'critical condition'.
A man has surrendered before the Kerala Police in connection with the serial blasts that took place at a prayer meeting in Kalamassery on Sunday morning, said Kerala ADGP (law and order) MR Ajith Kumar.
One person was killed and over 35 have been critically wounded in the explosions that took place at a prayer meeting of Jehovah's Witness believers at Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kalamassery area in Ernakulam district on Sunday.
"Shocked to hear about the blast at a religious gathering at #Kalamassery, Ernakulam district, Kerala, killing one person and injuring over 20. Heartfelt condolences to the kin of the deceased and prayers for a speedy recovery of the injured," Kerala Raj Bhavan said in a statement.
