The Jammu and Kashmir administration has refuted misleading allegations of stone pelting of Amarnath yatris by miscreants as seen in a video circulated on social media, an official statement said on Wednesday.
Uttarakhand's Special Task Force (STF) busted a gang involved in cheating pilgrims on the pretext of helicopter ticket booking for Kedarnath Dham Yatra. Three members of the gang have also been arrested, said police on Wednesday.
The historic 62-day annual Amarnath Yatra is going on at Gupha, located at an altitude of 13 thousand feet above sea level. There are two ways to go for this Yatra which started on July 1, 2023.
The BKTC chairman further said that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has also directed that every possible help should be provided to the pilgrims in case the road gets blocked during the rainy season.
In the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, pilgrims have been accommodated at the Pantha Chowk transit camp here where all the facilities are being given to them in a very organised manner.
"It has been made possible under PM Modi that religious tourism sites have been taken care of and developed for the ease of religious pilgrimage and the revival of religious tourism in the country," the Union Minister said.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, along with senior police and paramilitary officials, conducted a comprehensive security review at various points, including the Navyug Tunnel on National Highway in Kashmir to ensure the safety and security of pilgrim
In the incident two of the members of the Mountain Rescue Team of J-K Police, identified as Mohammed Salem and Mohammed Yaseen, also injured while trying the rescue the lady, the police said.
More than three crore devotees of Lord Shiva have, so far, thronged to Haridwar to collect holy water from the Ganges for "Jalabhishek" during the month of Saawan.
