Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has issued notices to the contractors and concerned engineers in connection with the collapse of an under-construction metro pillar in Bengaluru and said that an internal technical team would investigate the matter.
The contractor in charge of the Metro pillar construction in Bengaluru, where the collapse of an under-construction metro pillar claimed two lives, didn't take safety measures, alleged the father-in-law of the woman who died in the incident on Tuesday.
"A pillar fell on the road and a woman and her child were badly injured and died. It is very unfortunate. Will provide Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the victims," the MD said.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that the government would conduct an inquiry into the under-construction metro pillar collapse incident in Bengaluru which claimed two lives.
"Karnataka Chief Minister must resign. It's a clear case of poor work and people have succumbed to it. Now, people of Bengaluru and Karnataka are fed up," Congress MLA Sowmya Reddy said.
The plea stated that at present cardiac stents or coronary stents are allowed to be manufactured or imported and sold, without or with negligible supporting clinical study or data, and merely based on predicate (device or literature), submitted by the manufacturer or importer.
