Australia’s High Commissioner to India Philip Green on Monday said people are the living bridge between the two countries and that India is the first country to return to and beat pre-pandemic levels of travel to Australia.
Following the Hindi Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Australian diplomats as they recited their favourite hindi proverbs in celebration of Hindi Diwas.
"Australia's High Commissioner-Designate Philip Green has arrived in India with his wife Prof Susan Marks. He welcomed the entire High Commission team to his home for an afternoon tea. Welcome Philip!," the Australian High Commission wrote on Twitter.
Outgoing Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O'Farrell met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on June 29 and discussed ways to deepen the relationship between India and Australia.
Green is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Australia's Ambassador to Germany. He has previously served overseas as Australia's High Commissioner to Singapore, to South Africa, and to Kenya.
