West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre over the Lok Sabha elections being held in the state in seven phases amid this scorching heat.
Amid polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party candidate from Mainpuri constituency Dimple Yadav said that Samajwadi Party and the alliance are performing well and all regional parties across the country are winning against the BJP.
Tripura continues to lead the voter turnout charts in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections with 77.53 per cent voting till 5 pm, while Uttar Pradesh has registered the lowest turnout with 52.74 per cent, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India on Friday.
Union Minister and BJP candidate from Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency Dr Mansukh Mandaviya expressed confidence that BJP would win most of the seats in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the people have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.
Amidst sweltering temperatures, many voters emphasised the importance of casting their votes, urging others to do the same and stressing the direct impact of government decisions on their lives.
Of these, Hoshangabad is leading the voter turnout charts with 63.44 per cent voting followed by Tikamgarh 56.24 per cent, Satna 55.51 per cent, Damoh 53.66 per cent, Khajuraho 52.91 per cent and Rewa 45.02 per cent till 5 pm so far in the state.
Volunteers were seen assisting the elderly at the polling station in Manipur as polling commenced for the remaining part of the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency on Friday.
