Indian cricketing legend Kapil Dev on Monday announced the launch of a new annual golf tournament, in association with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) - the official sanctioning body for men's professional golf in India.
Om Prakash Chouhan took control early in the day when he picked up five birdies on the first eight holes to move into the sole lead. Om Prakash made his sixth chip-in of the tournament on the seventh hole and set up the other birdies also as a result of good wedge play.
Three-time PGTI winner Abhijit Singh Chadha's day was highlighted by his three long birdie conversions from a range of 15 to 30 feet on the second, fourth and 18th as he did well to negotiate the tricky greens.
Sandhu made two birdies and bogeys each on the first nine holes but still managed to stretch his lead to five shots as nearest rival Khalin Joshi was one-over at the turn. Yuvraj birdied both par-5s, first and eighth, on the front nine.
Bengaluru-based Khalin, who was placed second and one shot off the lead after round three, set a new record for the lowest winning total at the Coimbatore Golf Club with his 14-under 274 aggregate.
