Four Dalit men were allegedly attacked by upper caste Hindus after a dispute arose at a temple festival at Madurai in Tamil Nadu, said police. Twelve persons have been arrested in this connection, police said.
"Two people from Kakdwip have been reported dead in the incident. Their names are Mayuddin Sheikh and Halim Mollah. 32 people here have been injured in the accident. We are in contact with the families of those who died and those who were injured. All possible help is being provided to them,
"We can't bring back the ones we have lost in this accident but will provide all possible help to the Railways as well as the state government. We will try to provide relief to as many distressed persons as possible," the BJP's Bengal chief added.
