Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met with the family of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was among one of the 241 passengers that lost their lives in Ahmedabad plane crash.
Former Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani was among the 241 passengers who was in the ill-fated Boeing 787-8, Air India flight 171 that crashed seconds after take-off and crashed into a resident doctors' hostel building.
Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad has recovered a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) from the debris of the Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, killing all passengers and crew members except one.
Air India has diverted or cancelled several international flights due to Iran's airspace closure amid rising tensions. The airline is offering refunds, rescheduling, and accommodations to affected passengers and advises travellers to check flight status before departure.
Speaking to reporters at the site, NDRF official Hariom Gandhi said, "Our team is on standby and working. Our six teams are working on the ground. Wait for some time... We cannot give any numbers until the site is completely cleared."
Speaking to ANI, Pawan Khera said, "It was a very sad day in our lives. From the visuals that we are watching on television, things don't look very good. We can only hope. We offer prayers to all the passengers and their family members. I think it is a sad day for the country."
