IndiGo issued a travel advisory on Saturday, warning passengers of possible flight disruptions due to early-morning fog expected across Delhi and several parts of northern India on Sunday.
"Of the total 600 passengers in the train, the 200 passengers in the affected coaches have been safely shifted to other coaches, and the train has resumed its journey. The restoration work will be finished promptly," Sharma said.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Saturday issued a weather advisory warning that reduced visibility due to fog across parts of Northern India may impact flight operations at select airports, potentially leading to delays or disruptions.
Both Air India and IndiGo, in an attempt to mitigate fog-related disruptions, such as reduced visibility that affects flight operations, issued travel advisories for passengers during the holiday season. The advisories requested passengers' patience as services returned to normal.
Indian Railways on Friday clarified that it has not issued any instruction making it mandatory for passengers to carry a printed copy of unreserved train tickets, countering certain media reports that suggested a change in the existing rules.
"Passengers are requested to remain in contact with their airlines, check official platforms for updates, and allow extra time for travel," the ministry posted on X. "Passenger facilitation teams are available at airports to support travellers," it added.
IndiGo issued a travel advisory warning passengers of possible disruptions to flight operations due to low visibility and dense fog conditions over Varanasi. The airline said the adverse weather may continue to impact flight schedules, including delays and cancellations.
