According to the Assam State Election Commission, there are 420 Zila Parishad Constituencies, 185 Anchalik Panchayats, 2195 Gram Panchayats, 21936 wards and 23684 polling stations in 40 districts and Sub-Divisions of the state.
In a message on X, the Punjab Chief Minister's Office said, "Stressing on maintaining brotherhood and bonhomie in Panchayat Elections, Chief Minister@BhagwantMann announced a special grant of ₹5 lakh to unanimously elected panchayats under ‘Mukh Mantri Pind Ekta Sanman."
A Trinamool Congress leader, who contested and won the recent panchayat elections, was killed and another person injured in a shootout at Magrahat in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, police informed on Saturday.
"We discussed the recent Panchayat elections and the incidents of violence that occurred during the polls. He (PM Modi) also enquired about the development works in the state," Sukanta Majumdar said after meeting PM Modi.

However, hitting back at the BJP leader, Mamata Banerjee said that the fact-finding team led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad is BJP's provocation committee.
Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday arrived in Kolkata with the fact-finding team constituted by the party to inquire into the violence that erupted during the Gram Panchayat elections.
