The Punjab caretaker government on Saturday took the decision to arrest more than 500 women for their alleged involvement in the arson attacks that took place in the province on May 9.
Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir has said no arrests will be made at PTI chief Imran Khan's residence until 2 pm on Thursday (today), reported Dawn.
Pakistan's Punjab province interim government gave a 24-hour ultimatum to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hand over "30-40 terrorists who have taken refuge" in former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Geo News reported.
The electoral authority had postponed the Punjab polls to October, which the PTI had challenged. The Supreme Court, in an April 4 order, declared the ECP's decision to be unconstitutional, without lawful authority or jurisdiction, void ab-initio and of no legal effect.
Naqvi said that around 34 attackers were involved in the attack on Jinnah House in Lahore. He said that the rioters and arsonists burnt safe city cameras on May 9 and two metro stations in Lahore, according to ARY News report.
In cases filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act across the province for carrying out attacks on the Corps Commander House in Lahore, public and private buildings, the Punjab police arrested 540 more leaders and members of the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Friday,
Pakistan's Punjab government has stopped all types of arrears, and time scale payments to employees and officers due to the severe financial crisis and for the preparation of the new budget, Pakistan-based English language newspaper Pakistan Today reported.
On May 6, Mohsin Naqvi said, "We have decided to go for an immediate audit through the Auditor General Pakistan office, and simultaneously through a private audit firm of established international repute," as per the Dawn report.
A petition demanding that elections be held nationwide on the same day will be heard by a three-member Supreme Court bench on Friday, reported Geo News. A three-member bench, headed by CJP, will hear the case today.
