The Indian Armed Forces successfully foiled a large-scale drone and missile attack launched by Pakistan targeting multiple military stations in Northern and Western India, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) said.
According to a release, the first DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was found in a field near Shahur Kalan village, Gurdaspur district, following a joint search operation with Punjab Police. Shortly after, another similar drone was recovered near Bhaini Rajputana village in Amritsar district.
According to defence sources, the drone -- of Chinese origin -- was brought down by Army Air Defence units deployed in the 16 Corps area, located south of the Pir Panjal ranges in the Jammu region.
"These drones were effectively neutralized using advanced technical countermeasures, preventing them from being used for narcotics smuggling," the BSF said.
The Committee on External Affairs highlighted on Monday that terrorism in India is sponsored from across the border, adding that terrorist outfits are provided safe havens by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
