Paank, Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, has condemned the cases of enforced disappearances taking place in Balochistan and demanded the release of all disappeared persons.
The HRCP called upon the administration to repeal the act pushed through a defamation law to curb fake news, however, civil society, and journalists say that it infringes on freedom of press and expression.
HRCP has consistently decried special parallel judicial structures because they invariably violate fundamental rights and other universally accepted norms governing the fair functioning of the judiciary.
The attack on Jamil Masih aged 58 and his family took place in village Chak 269 of district Toba Tek Singh on May 2, Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) said in the press release. At the time of the attack, Jamil Masih was at the workplace doing labourer work.
It noted that Balochistan faces mounting public frustration pertaining to enforced disappearances, economic exclusion, curbs on press freedom, misgovernance and allegations of political manipulation by the establishment.
