Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the flood-affected Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh said that there was an estimated loss of Rs 20,000 crores and hoped that the Prime Minister would announce a major relief package when he comes to the state on Tuesday.
The CPI MP, who recently visited the affected villages of Fazilka district, described the scale of destruction as "overwhelming," with entire stretches of farmland submerged, crops wiped out, cattle perished, and homes reduced to rubble.
In the light of Punjab floods due to heavy rain, the State's cabinet minister Barinder Kumar Goyal requested Rs 20,000 crores from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
