Austria's ruling conservatives on Sunday appointed Christian Stocker, the secretary-general of the Austrian People's Party (OVP), as their interim leader after former Chancellor Karl Nehammer stepped down following the collapse of coalition talks, Al Jazeera reported citing Kronen Zeitung
Nehammer said, "After the breakoff of the coalition talks I am going to do the following: I will step down both as chancellor and party chairman of the People's Party in the coming days."
