"Hon'ble Members, I strongly plead with you. Democracy will be seriously threatened if disruption and disturbance are weaponised as a political strategy as has been done now," Dhankar said while addressing members of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
A 12-member farmer leaders delegation reached the office of Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in Parliament House to meet him after the alleged initial entry denial on Wednesday.
"This budget is an attack on the dignity of India's federal structure - in the greed to save power, there is neglect of other states of the country, there is discrimination against them," Rahul Gandhi said in a post on Facebook.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that farmer leaders who were invited by him to meet in Parliament were not allowed inside.
Challenging the Congress, the Finance Minister said, "I would challenge the Congress party that for all the budget speeches they have delivered. Have they named every state of the country in each of their budget speeches. This is an outrageous allegation," she stated.
"The entire country is upset with the budget. People from all the states are upset because the BJP has failed to solve their basic issues. The compulsion of the government is clearly visible in this budget. INDIA bloc is protesting against the injustice done in the budget...," Gogoi said
"It is our responsibility and a right as a constructive opposition in the democracy to stage demonstrations, rallies and protests for our rights. The Vidhan Sabha Gherao today will include leaders from all states and we will all unite to raise the voice of the people," Pilot stated.
"This budget strongly signals that 'New India' is firmly on the move...As far as the crooked Congress and the unprincipled opposition is concerned, they have no credibility. They lack a credible intention, policy and leader," Kesavan said, speaking to ANI on Wednesday.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday slammed the Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for calling the examination system "fraud" and asked if, after the Supreme Court verdict, the latter would apologise.
Voicing strong criticism of the NITI Aayog meetings organized by the Union Government after the opposition unitedly decided to boycott them, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said there is no use of such meetings as the opposition voices and concerns go unheard.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday called the Union Budget "good" and said that the opposition is trying to "mislead people" by saying that the budget presented by the central government is only for two states (Bihar and Andhra Pradesh).
