Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will hold a special cabinet meeting in Pahalgam today, over a month after a terror attack that killed 26 people. The meeting aims to address the impact on tourism and send a strong message against terrorism in the region.
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, on Saturday left for Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, where he will be meeting residents affected by cross-border shelling by Pakistan.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday stated that while tourism in the region has been affected, the government is currently prioritising the smooth and secure conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
This comes following the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which instilled fear among tourists. The Central government is pushing for boosting tourism in the Valley,
J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said they want the Amarnath Yatra to be safe and free of problems. He added tourism is down, and there have been no recent border clashes. The government is working on compensation for any damage caused.
Omar Abdullah's call to revive the project on Thursday was seen as provocative by Mehbooba Mufti, especially after both countries had stepped back from the brink of war in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack, abeyance of Inus Water Treaty and Operation Sindoor.
