As many as 59 free buses from Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack left for Kolkata on Sunday night after rail services were halted on in Odisha in view of the triple train tragedy in Balasore that claimed 275 lives.
"Keeping in view the greater benefit of the commuters CM Naveen Patnaik has announced free bus service to Kolkata from Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from today," the Office of the Chief Minister (CMO) Odisha said.
"The next of kin of the deceased will get the assistance of Rs 5 lakh and those who sustained serious injuries will get Rs 1 lakh as assistance," the Office of the Chief Minister (CMO) Odisha said.
"This is the biggest accident in history. I pay homage to the dead and pray for the well-being of the injured. I have spoken to the Chief Minister of Odisha. The government of Chhattisgarh is ready to provide all possible help to them" said Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel.
