The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that dense to very dense fog (visibility 50-200 meters) likely at some pockets over Uttar Pradesh during December 26 and 27.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu laid the foundation stone for capacity expansion at the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR) at Pasighat on Tuesday.
Speaking to ANI about the newly commissioned warship, the Navy Chief said, "The name Imphal is very significant. This is the first time we are naming a major warship after a city in the Northeast of Bharat."
"Named the capital of Manipur, she is the first warship to represent a prominent city of north-east Bharat, aptly highlighting the importance attached by the government to this region," Admiral Kumar said.
Dense fog is likely to continue over northwest and parts of adjoining central India during the next three to four days, the India Meteorological Department said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Northern Railways informed that 14 trains are affected so far in the northern zone due to the dense fog prevailing over the national capital on Tuesday.
