Delhi police is taking stringent steps to ensure that the ban on bursting firecrackers is implemented strictly ahead of Diwali and 3500 kg of firecrackers have been seized from North Delhi.

According to Delhi police, "We received information about the incident late at Friday night that a man under the influence of alcohol had a fight with his wife over some issue and beat her to death in front of their children."
One labourer was killed and two others were injured in North Delhi's Subhash Place after a mound of soil collapsed on them while they were laying a deep sewer line, said police.
Delhi Fire Services received a call informing them of the incident at around 7.40 a.m. Upon receiving the information, a total of eight fire tenders rushed to the site and started a rescue operation, said officials.

Giving details about the incident, the DCP said, "The incident took place on the night of September 2, when the 33-year-old woman had hired the auto from Burari and was on her way to an ISBT Kashmere Gate.
