Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday installed the sacred 'Sengol' in the Lok Sabha chamber, right next to the Speaker's chair in the new Parliament building, after performing puja.
The ceremony has begun with a traditional 'pooja' with Vedic rituals which will continue for an hour. After the puja, Prime Minister will receive the 'Sengol' and install it in the new Parliament. The inauguration will take place in two phases.
In the wake of the protesting wrestlers' march towards the newly-built Parliament House which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, Delhi Police heightened the security in the national capital.
Sharing a video message on her Twitter handle she said, "This 'Sengol' will be installed in the new Parliament building. This is a matter of great pride and honour for our country and each one of us, this is not a matter of controversy."
