Nepal Prime Minister Pushp Kamal Dahal aka "Prachanda" has reached President's office with the list of ministers who will be sworn in today, the PM Secretariat sources told ANI.
Prachanda's decision to oppose the nominee of its own alliance partner has heated up the political climate in Nepal, and the coalition government is beginning to display serious internal divisions
Ahead of the Presidential elections in Nepal, the country's coalition government has been thrown into turmoil as the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) Ministers on Monday submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Nepal's newly elected House of Representatives will choose its House speaker on January 19, the parliament secretariat announced as it called off the house meeting for the week.
Dahal was appointed PM for the third time after he secured the support of 169 members of the Parliament to form the new government. Dahal, also known by his nom de guerre Prachanda, meaning "fierce", served as Prime Minister of Nepal from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2016 to 2017.
In the new coalition, the CPN-UML has 78, Maoist Center 32, Rastriya Swatantra Party 20, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 14, Janata Samajbadi Party 12, Janamat Party 6 and Nagarik Unmukti Party has 4 MPs in support of Prachanda. The total weightage is 166.
