Speaking to ANI, the IG Operation of NDRF said, "The operation is still continuing. So far, the state government has announced 238 dead and more than 900 injured. Hopefully, by today evening, we should be able to close the operation".
Speaking to ANI, the NDRF DG said, "It is a very tragic incident, a huge loss of lives. Nine teams of NDRF - more than 300 rescuers - are working in coordination with SDRF and other agencies. This is the third such major incident in our history."
"I have issued an order for a high-level probe to find out why this derailment happened. It is important to get to the root cause of this tragic accident," said the Railways minister.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) DIG Manoj Kumar Yadav on Friday said search operations were underway inside the derailed passenger train coaches in Odisha's Balasore and the primary focus was on mobilising emergency rescue and relief.
