Rescue operations for the trapped workers in Telangana's Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel continued on Sunday morning, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) making progress and advancing deeper into the tunnel with eight labourers are feared to be trapped inside.

According to an official release, the HLC approved central assistance of Rs 1554.99 crore to five States from NDRF, subject to an adjustment of 50 per cent of the opening balance for the year available in the SDRF.
Out of the total amount of Rs 1554.99 crore, Rs 608.08 crore has been approved for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 170.99 crore for Nagaland, Rs 255.24 crore for Odisha, Rs 231.75 crore for Telangana and Rs 288.93 crore for Tripura.
A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court in the wake of the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station, seeking to constitute an expert committee to frame guidelines and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
"An incident happened today when a 22-year-old devotee while bathing in the Ganga at Gada Madhav Ghat went into deep water which became uncontrollable due to the strong current and started drowning," read a statement by the NDRF.
The Committee has also approved the mitigation project on lightning safety in 10 states at a total outlay of Rs 186.78 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
