Union Home Miniter Amit Shah congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was conferred with Cyprus's highest civilian award, the 'Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III and described him as one of the most decorated leaders in India's history.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up the Cyprus leg of his three nation tour and has now emplaned for Canada where he will be attending the G7 Summit.
In a novel gesture, the member of the Council of Nicosia touched Prime Minister Narendra Modi's feet as a mark of respect during PM's visit to the mediterranean country.

PM Modi was conferred with Cyprus's highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, named after the first Cyprus President, Archbishop Makarios III. The PM dedicated the honour to 140 crore Indians and friendly relations between the two nations.
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides said he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed expanding bilateral ties and synergy in various sectors and agreed to work on defence cooperation, innovation, and tourism.
PM Modi lauded the support of Cyprus for India becoming a permanent member of the Security Council and the country's continued support in India's fight against cross-border terrorism.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri lashed out at the pro-Khalistan protestors holding demonstrations ahead of the G7 summit in Canada. Puri termed them as "kiraye ke tatto" and said that they should not be taken "seriously".
He further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's Gross Domestic Product had increased from two trillion dollars to four trillion dollars.
