A four-day-long Polio Vaccination campaign has been launched in Afghanistan's eastern region in order to put an end to the disease, Khaama Press reported on Saturday.
The incidents involved reckless driving and occurred in various parts of the province; two people were killed on the spot, and 168 were wounded; some of the injured are in critical condition, according to the local media outlets.
According to Afghan officials, Pakistan has handed over 27 Afghan prisoners to the Taliban authorities at the Torkham crossing border, Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, reported Khaama Press.
According to the chief of the UNICEF Polio Eradication Programme in Afghanistan's communications department, Kamal Shah Sayed, the fifth polio case has been reported in the Nangarhar province's Dur Baba region.
According to Rahimi, the incidents took place in Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Takhar, Badakhshan, Ghor, Kandahar, Kunar, Nuristan, Laghman, Paktia, Khost, Daikundi and Nangarhar.
"In these two cases, one child is 4 years old and the other is 11. One of them lost their life and we want to start a polio vaccination campaign to prevent this disease," said Amerkhail.
Near the "Hindu" market in the Lal Pur district, there are numerous homes and fields owned by Hindus and Sikhs. However, during the recent wars, many of these properties were taken over and some were sold off.
According to the Taliban, at least four children were killed and 25 others were injured and around 300 residential houses were badly damaged due to flash floods.
