A Mumbai court sent Kalachowki murder accused to police custody till March 20 on Thursday. The accused has been identified as the daughter of the victim Veena Prakash Jain.
Inspector General of Police Rakesh Gupta said, "A complaint was received from the family members that the woman died due to electrocution. Acting on the complaint, the post mortem of the woman was conducted and a case of murder was registered into the matter."
Police arrested a Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) personnel for allegedly killing his wife and throwing the body at Mainpat Machli river ghat, informed officials.
"The woman's arms and legs were chopped off after she was killed. This was done using cutters and a small knife which have been recovered from the house," an officer said.
"A man strangled his wife to death on Monday morning and went to work. After returning from work in the evening, the accused husband surrendered himself to the police," said the Pelhar police.
A man claiming to be a witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case has demanded security from the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government in view of the recent murder of Umesh Pal, a witness in the case.
According to the police, following the murder, the 30-year-old accused allegedly chopped the victim's body into pieces to fit it into a suitcase and dispose it off.
Sardar Khetran, who was arrested on charges of murdering three people, including a woman, and abducting six people in Barkhan, was released from Central Jail in Quetta on bail after paying surety bonds of PKR 500,000 in each case. Khetran's bail application was approved by the Rakhni session
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, GS Sidhu, the victim was sitting with his friends at a property dealer's office, during which some unidentified miscreants came and fired around three rounds at them.
