Upon receiving information, an 108 ambulance unit and personnel from the BMC, Mumbai Fire Brigade, and local police reached the site and initiated rescue operations. Six passengers who experienced suffocation were treated in the on-site ambulances and later discharged.
Preliminary investigation into the Mumbai Monorail incident on Tuesday evening has revealed that overcrowding was the primary cause of the disruption, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) stated in a press note.
"Due to heavy rains since morning, 14 long-distance trains have been cancelled, 16 trains rescheduled, and six trains short-terminated and originated before their scheduled destinations," the CPRO said.
